Watch This: “Moonrise Kingdom”

This is going to be a tad bit different kind of “watch this” post than readers may be accustomed to seeing here. Why is that? Well, only because I can’t actually claim to have seen this (probably, especially according to rave reviews) brilliant film yet. Moonrise Kingdom written and directed by the ever wonderful Wes Anderson is currently playing in select theaters. Unfortunately it hasn’t made it anywhere near me yet, (or it seems, anywhere in a distance that could even garner excuse for a weekend road trip right now.) BUT if you’re lucky enough for it to be showing near you RUN GO SEE IT NOW! Anderson has created several other amazing projects in the past among them, my favorite being The Royal Tennenbaums. Others include The Darjeeling Unlimited, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Fantastic Mr.Fox, and Rushmore. With a stellar cast including Bill Murray (of course!), Edward Norton, Frances McDormand, Bruce Willis, and the two young stars Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward.

Set in an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, two young kids have fallen in love and run away to the woods…now the town has sent out a search party! Cue the awesome. I was excited before I even saw the trailer, then more so when it was finally released, and now incredibly excited as I probably saw it on tv a minimum of six times yesterday! If you’re lucky enough to go see it, let me know what you think!

  1. i think we’re destined to be blog friends; one of my friends was just telling me how i need to get into wes anderson films because i’d apparently be into them!

  2. A majority of this movie was shot in Newport, Rhode Island. A few scenes were shot on the same street were located. We were lucky enough to see Wes Anderson on the set work his magic. By the way Bill Murray is the Man!…lol

    1. Oh my goodness, are you serious?! What an incredible experience! I probably would’ve been a little stalkerish if this was being filmed down the street!
