If you read my Mugs Life blog, then you probably noticed I mentioned Coconut Records song “West Coast” is one of my favorites. Ever. Really, the entire Nighttiming album is fantastic. It embodies everything that is summer. All the little details, the nooks and crannies. I dare you to find better lyrics, too. Okay maybe you’ll argue with me on that one, but really?
“For a second there i thought you disappeared
It rains a lot this time of year
And we both go together if one falls down
I talk out loud like you’re still around
And i miss you (ooooh’)
I’m goin back home to the west coast
I wish you woulda put yourself in my suitcase
I love you
Standin all alone in a black coat”
All the words. All of ’em. Jason Schwartzman (yeahhh that was him you saw in the wonderful Moonrise Kingdom) is awesome, and if you haven’t listened to this gem of music yet – I’m telling you, just do it. Happy happy tunes that give me that – I wanna make something, go somewhere, road trip it up, bask in the sunshine, sit on my bed staring at the ceiling listening to this on repeat feeling.
So, if your life hasn’t been graced by the wonderful presence of this song, here’s a video from the Young Baby Records youtube channel, give it a listen:
